Solar energy
My new job consists of investing in water companies all over the world. Some of the companies I look at have alternative energy businesses as well and I was interested to read that one of them is building a solar power plant in Arizona. This consists of a three square mile plant with tens of thousands of mirrors to catch the sun's rays. The problem with solar power is storage and transportation. If these difficulties can be overcome it will, in my view, be the clear front-runner for the main source of energy.

You are absolutely right - stop thinking of the generating and start thinking of the storage and distribution!!
But NB BP is thinking of selling it's green business.
Hi KL - I think they want to sell stakes in it rather than the whole thing to realise some of its value. Amazing that Visa's raising $17bn in its IPO...
Hi W2; great post. With 90% of electricity in Australia generated by greenhouse-polluting coal, reducing our household energy has to be a priority. Solar power is a smart - although sadly very expensive initially - way of acheiving this.
It's only money - and shuffling money about is enormously profitable, as you know, as long as we poor saps keep handing it out!
Hi TM - that's true. I see that there's a desalination plant in Perth which is powered by a wind farm. Desalination's expensive as well and not very "green" if fuelled by coal/oil.
True KL - but an interesting part of the cycle to divest credit.
What about my Maserati? Are you suggesting, WW, I acquire a more traditional car. Somehow I feel the problem is the same.

I don't suppose your company would want to invest in a Sicilian water one? - They could do with a shake-up!!
