if I may say so, I thought Sam,Mark's wife, the granddaughter and Clegg's wife were all appropriately dressed. Cherie Blair looked as if she had popped into an Oxfam shop to get a specially non-fitting wrinkled outfit - and grabbed a hat on the way out. Which didn't fir.

Hi KL - I agree with your fashion critique apart from SamCam. Not keen on the beige (particularly the shoes). I thought Carol Thatcher was elegant and was sorry for her when her hat came unstuck at the end. The Queen was the best dressed IMHO.

The other thing that struck me is that while a tear fell down GO's cheek (didn't show very well in this photo), his wife looked very unamused and ignored him.

Yes I saw that too. And HM is always most appropriately dressed for every occasion....

But, mes amis, what about the granddaughter? I thought that she was excellent. Good voice, well turned out and poised - a chip off the old block but without that ghastly off the shelf voice of her grand mother. Watch this space.

As a tribute to Mrs T. I ressurected a 1980's handbag known in my family as "Mummy's Mrs Thatcher's".

Maybe Portinari. Very good to see you and the Portinari clan on Tuesday.

Bravo ED! (A Launer?)

Sadly, I suspect the granddaughter is American - which means she will be President rather than Prime Minister.
